This position exists within the Digital Technology Department, inside the Global Development Center, within DIGITAL and IT function in JTI.
The DIGITECH department within the GDC is responsible for creating the scope and clarification of the digital technology and architecture strategy based on the business vision.
The Magento Engineer will be responsible for developing headless commerce functionalities using Magento 2.4.x based on specifications provided by business and market needs. Building GraphQL APIs and microservices integrations with AEM and Builder.io frontends. Taking active participation in technical assessments for Kubernetes deployments on Azure. Ensuring that all technical requirements are gathered from different entities to properly deliver commerce initiatives.
Position:
Engage in the complete software development life cycle, and user-facing features using PHP and Magento 2 in particular within organizational constraints.
Build reusable modules and backend-end libraries for future use.
Optimize components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers.
Develop and sustain software with a focus on performance and security requirements.
Create and maintain unit/component tests to guarantee software quality.
Create and maintain documentation of code.
Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Work closely with Magento developers and frontend developers: This involves improving usability and ensuring that the backend-end integrates well with the frontend application as well as with external systems.
Participate in cross-functional teams: Work in multidisciplinary teams that include members from various technology teams (e.g., Web, Mobile, DevOps) to deliver and maintain apps or groups of apps.
Engaging in technical discussions and innovation: Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies, applying best practices in web development, and contributing to the creation of intuitive and dynamic user experiences.
Requirements:
University Degree in Computer or Technical Science or strong IT background.
3+ years of experience developing Magento 2.x applications, including Magento 2.4.x.
3+ years of experience & strong proficiency in PHP 8.x and Magento framework architecture.
Experience with GraphQL API development and REST API integration in headless commerce.
Experience with Kubernetes deployments and containerization (Docker) on Azure.
Familiarity with GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience integrating Magento with AEM, Builder.io, or similar headless CMS platforms.
Strong debugging skills with Magento-specific tools (n98-magerun2, Xdebug).
Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
Familiarity with Magento performance optimization (Observability, Redis, Elasticsearch).
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Fluency in English is mandatory.
