ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you ready to begin your professional journey in Reservoir Engineering and contribute to decision-making for assets around the world?
In Technical Asset Support (TAS) — part of Shell’s Projects & Technology organization — you’ll join a global network of technical specialists who support asset teams across regions, time zones, and disciplines.

From Kraków, you will be an integrated member of subsurface and reservoir engineering teams, helping them access high quality data, improve workflows, and unlock insights that shape the future of our reservoirs.

The Reservoir Engineer – Junior Data Analyst role is designed for Early Careers talent who are eager to start a technical path in subsurface engineering.

In this role, you will work closely with reservoir engineering and subsurface colleagues from global assets, helping streamline, document, and improve data management processes related to Well, Reservoir, and Facility Management (WRFM).

You will support assets by preparing reservoir performance data, integrating subsurface information, improving data quality, and contributing to analyses that support decisions on reserves, production forecasting, and resource maturation.

This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in reservoir engineering, data analysis, and upstream operations, while working in a collaborative, international environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Collaborate with global assets

  • Work closely with Reservoir Engineers and asset teams to provide reliable access to data required for reservoir studies, reviews, and performance analyses.

  • Capture and update key reservoir properties, fluid data, pressure data, and other subsurface inputs.

Support WRFM and annual reporting cycles

  • Assist in preparing data for WRFM reviews.

  • Support annual internal and external reporting workflows.

Contribute to subsurface analytics

  • Integrate multiple data types (production, injection, pressure, fluid, etc.) to generate meaningful insights.

  • Build data visualizations using industry standard tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI).

  • Perform data quality checks and coordinate corrections with relevant stakeholders.

Support reservoir engineering workflows

  • Assist assets with:
    ▪ Reserves estimation and classification
    ▪ Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) for production forecasting
    ▪ Well test interpretation

Engage and contribute to community development

  • Participate in the global reservoir engineering network.

  • Share insights, challenges, and improvements.

  • Support colleagues in subsurface processes and workflows.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education

  • University degree in Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

  • Suitable for Fresh Graduates or 1–3 years of relevant experience in areas such as:
    ▪ Field Development Planning
    ▪ Reservoir Studies
    ▪ Production Forecasting
    ▪ Subsurface Benchmarking
    ▪ Annual Reserves Reporting

Technical Skills (required or desirable)

  • Basic understanding of subsurface data types: production, injection, fluid and pressure data, reservoir properties.

  • Understanding of end to end Upstream Asset Development.

  • Data management capabilities—identifying data sources, assessing data quality, ensuring reliable datasets.

  • Skills considered an advantage:
    ▪ Python for data analysis
    ▪ VBA / Power Query for data integration
    ▪ Spotfire or Power BI for visualization

  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies is beneficial.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, English – B2/C1

  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow within a global subsurface community.

WHAT YOU WILL GET:

  • Gain exposure to multiple reservoirs, fields, and regions

  • Build a strong skill set across subsurface engineering and data analytics

  •  Work with experienced global professionals

  •  Grow in a supportive environment focused on learning and continuous improvement

  • Flexible, hybrid work model (minimum 2 days per week in our Krakow office).

  • Contract of employment (UoP)  and competitive salary and benefits package.
