Job Summary
We are looking for a Finance student to join our Finance and Regulatory Reporting Team at Standard Chartered Bank AG Poland Branch. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in an international Finance Team and support the team on a daily basis with tasks related to legal entity accounting. We are looking for a part-time student (20 hours per week) for a 12-month contract with availability to work 4 hours per day Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Work together with Finance colleagues and independently on assigned topics and tasks relating to legal entity accounting under IFRS and HGB in accordance with policy guidelines
- Support in month-end and year-end book closure activities and other reporting under both IFRS and HGB for Standard Chartered Bank AG and branches in France and Sweden. These entities offer various banking products, including but not restricted to Financial Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate and Institutional Lending
- Use advanced excel skills to perform efficient finance processes in collaboration with offshore and onshore teams. This can include work on manual payments reconciliations, invoice processing, travel and expense claim bookings and preparation of journal entries
- Support in the intercompany processes including reconciliations, booking receipts, clearing FX differences
- Support in Balance Sheet substantiation process including tracking open transactions, reconciling with supporting evidence, preparing submissions
- Pre-payment schedules preparation and work on reconciling accruals
- Support the tax team with financial data input and monthly reconciliation of tax and VAT accounting
- Continuous contribution towards process improvements through:
- Challenging current practices and procedures and identifying opportunities for efficiencies
- Identification of weaknesses in current processes and developing and implementing effective solutions
- Identifying opportunities for automating processes
Skills and Experience
- Studying for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance related field, including studying HGB and IFRS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- A team player who enjoys interacting with people of all levels in a multicultural environment
- Willingness to learn, share responsibilities, facilitate collaboration, and support the success of others
- Experience in accounting would be a strong advantage
- Certifications and training in IT and /or coding would be a strong advantage
